About the Team

Our global team which aims to provide access to the world's information and creative content with a simple click. To our search engine, evaluation is important as it helps assess the quality of search results, thereby improving users' search experience. As a search evaluation PM, you will be responsbile to provide independent, objective, and accurate evaluation viewpoints by defining what's the best experience for our users and implementing a global evaluation plan. Your insights combined with various evaluation and research data will help the entire product development team continuously understand users' needs and optimize the product. Daily work of the team covers user research, data analysis, project management and other related areas. We'd be delighted to have you join us if you are interested.


Responsibilities

- Responsible for improving the user experience of vertical categories for TikTok search and formulating relevant evaluation and research plans for different product functions, content, and strategies;
- Based on the evaluation results, user research and data, analyze user needs and identify product gaps, so as to provide actionable insights to cross-functional teams on the product's future iterations;
- Collaborate with the international operations team to facilitate globally the implementation of the research and evaluation plans, especially ensure the efficiency and accuracy of the deliverables.


Qualifications

- Have profound knowledge of search products and search engines, and understand basic research and evaluation methodologies
- Having 3-5 years of experience with e-commerce search products is a plus
- Possess strong logical thinking, deep user empathy and acumen in data analysis
- Be capable of independently developing project plans, overseeing the execution of the team, and performing risk management to minimize project risks. Ensure resource availability and allocation to deliver every project on time within scope
- Strong sense of responsibility, excellent communication skills and solid organizational skills, including attention to details and multi-tasking skills.

Responsibilities - What You'll Do

- Grow and lead a team of engineers committed to creating innovative distributed systems to empower large-scale recommendation and machine learning systems;
- Build extremely efficient, scalable and reliable online systems and data pipelines, optimize and evolve the system continuously so as to support the skyrocket increase in both user traffic as well as the data amount;
- Work with cross functional teams and key stakeholders to define roadmap, drive initiatives and deliver end-to-end infrastructure solutions to address critical product challenges and improve recommendation performance;
- Support recommendation global development and operation with reliable and scalable infrastructure.


Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree or above, majoring in Computer Science, or related fields;
- 5+ years of engineering experience in building large-scale distributed systems with 1+ years of engineering technical leadership experience;
- Excellent programming, troubleshooting, and optimization skills in one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: C/C++, Java, Python.
- Experienced in at least one area of the following areas: personalized recommendations, search engine, advertising, machine learning infrastructure, distributed storage systems, big data frameworks;
- Ability to think critically and to formulate solutions to problems in a clear and concise way;
- Effective communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive.

We are "Content Understanding" team. "Content Understanding" is essentially a system of tags, which describes content, creators, and users from different dimensions and perspectives. We work with Algos, build up different models to provide such a robust tag system, including Taxonomy, Interest label, etc. In this system, all entities are represented by a set of definitive tags and tag combinations. The advantage of this representation is that it connects different entities.For example, a 'food' creator and a user who likes 'food' content are connected through the common descriptor 'food'.
The interaction between content, creators, and users has a wide range of application scenarios and commercial value, and the tag system is the bridge that links them together. Establishing a tag system to unify content, creators, and users under the same descriptive framework facilitates the expansion of various business applications in corresponding scenarios, such as content recommendation and distribution, vertical operations, data analysis, ecosystem monitoring, and strategic planning, etc.


Responsibilities

- Responsible for the understanding of international short video content, possessing keen perception and deep understanding of content. Able to approach from both platform and user perspectives, combining machine learning and manual correction methods. Tasks include model clustering, annotation, understanding, and quality assessment, delivering general understanding capabilities such as content classification tags, interest tags, etc.
- Deeply understand recommendations and operations, proactively identify and explore pain points and requirements, expand more application scenarios and directions, assist businesses in efficient integration, and make reasonable interventions based on actual results to deliver quantifiable value.
